2025 CWS Ecumenical Awards

Church World Service was founded out of a deep conviction that we can accomplish more together than we can alone. Nearly eight decades later, this remains a pillar of who we are. To acknowledge, honor, and affirm Covenant Members and organizational partners for their longstanding ecumenical collaboration with CWS, we celebrate those who embody this spirit and who walk alongside us in our shared vision of a world where there is enough for all. This year, we are delighted to present our 2025 CWS Ecumenical Awards to two such partners: the Church of the Brethren and the York County Food Bank.

The Church of the Brethren is one of the denominations that has been a faithful partner to CWS since our founding in 1946, and its congregations support CWS every year through CWS Blankets, CWS Kits, CROP Hunger Walks, responding to emergencies and welcoming newcomers. This year, we are particularly grateful for over 65 years of partnership with the Brethren Service Center in New Windsor, Maryland to warehouse and effectively dispatch CWS Kits. CWS is deeply grateful for our longstanding collaboration as we walk alongside neighbors to build safe, bountiful and dignified lives.

The York County Food Bank has long been a dynamic and highly supportive partner of the York County CROP Hunger Walk, which is one of the oldest CROP Hunger Walks in the nation. The Food Bank team enthusiastically supports planning, community engagement and promotion of the Walk while also bringing their energy and insights to the event planning team. The York County Food Bank has also generously hosted CWS Kits packing events and continues to raise awareness about food insecurity locally and globally. We are deeply grateful for the ways that we continue to work with this outstanding organization.
