Project 2025 proposes measures that could devastate immigrant communities. But when government steps back, it’s up to us to step in.

Stand with us against Project 2025, and be a voice for the voiceless.

Pledge Against Project 2025

Project 2025 is:

A threat to American democracy and values.

Cruel and hateful.

Inhumane.

Designed by people who want to destroy America.

A ploy by wealthy elites to contain the rest of the population to their benefit.

Project 2025 is a calculated plan created by The Heritage Foundation to completely reorganize the federal government, lacking any compassion or humanity. It’s a roadmap to realign all our policies and perspectives with dangerous implications for the poor and marginalized. It is a 900 page manual with extreme positions that threaten every aspect of American life, especially endangering the lives of those whom CWS seeks to serve.

“Nearly eight years ago we witnessed the heartbreaking consequences of sweeping executive actions and policy changes that separated immigrant families, detained children, turned people fleeing violence and persecution back to danger, cut funding to life-saving global aid programs and abandoned refugees who were desperately in need of protection.”

“We will never stop working to defend our nation’s tradition of compassion and welcome and to protect the rights of the most vulnerable.”

– CWS President and CEO Rick Santos

Key components of Project 2025’s immigration approach include:

null
Militarizing Border Enforcement:
The plan includes deploying military resources at the border, imposing stricter asylum requirements and expanding the wall. These measures could significantly worsen humanitarian issues near the U.S.-Mexico border.

null
Expanding Immigrant Detention Facilities:
Project 2025 seeks to double detention capacity, allowing up to 100,000 immigrants to be detained daily, often for extended periods. It mandates detention even for immigrants without flight or safety risks.

Pledge Now

null
Ending Key Relief Programs and Visa Options:
The plan indirectly targets protections for Dreamers and Ukrainians, and directly aims to repeal TPS for nearly 700,000 people, eliminating work authorization and risking deportation. It also cuts multiple visa categories.

Pledge Now

null
Establishing a Nationwide Deportation System:
Project 2025 proposes allowing ICE to use “expedited removal” nationwide, expanding it beyond border areas. This approach, which raises due process concerns, could authorize raids in sensitive places like schools and hospitals.

Pledge Now

null
Expanding Work Verification Programs:
Project 2025 proposes expanding E-Verify, an error-prone employment verification system, which often blocks eligible workers, disproportionately impacting people of color, by confirming their eligibility to work in the United States.

Pledge Now

null
Merging Local and Federal Immigration Enforcement:
The plan advocates increased state and local involvement in federal immigration enforcement, penalizing non-cooperative jurisdictions and opening motor vehicle and voter registration databases for use in immigration enforcement.
