Emily wanted to make a difference — but she didn’t know how.

She’d heard about families in rural Haiti struggling to grow enough food. She couldn’t imagine facing that kind of uncertainty every day. Then she learned something surprising: just $7 could give a farmer the most important tool they were missing — a shovel.

The problem wasn’t a lack of will — it was a lack of tools.

In rural Haiti, hardworking farmers often go without the basic equipment they need. A simple shovel, something many take for granted, can be too expensive. But without it, planting food and providing for their families is a much harder task.

That’s when CWS showed her a way forward.

CWS works with small-scale farmers and gardeners in Haiti, helping them grow food, earn income and build stability. Their plan was simple: put a $7 shovel into the hands of a local farmer — and watch what happens.

Emily didn’t hesitate.

She gave $7. And with that small gift, she equipped a farmer with an essential tool they’d been missing.

Now, because of Emily…

Seeds are being planted. Soil is being turned. A harvest is on its way — and with it, income, food security and a brighter future.

Emily didn’t just give a shovel. She helped grow a livelihood.

And in doing so, she became a quiet force for lasting change.
