Thirty members were selected to receive improved chickens and hands‑on training from CWS—an opportunity made possible by generous supporters. Despite daily challenges, they poured themselves into the project. Soon, eggs and poultry became steady income, strengthening food security for their families. But their vision didn’t stop there. During a CWS visit, the group shared a bold dream: to ensure every one of their 200 members could own a Galla goat—an animal that grows quickly, sells well, and can transform a family’s future. Each member pledged to raise their goat and “pass on” two kids to others, creating a ripple of opportunity that would reach the entire fellowship.
At their first annual meeting in January 2025, gratitude filled the room. What began as disaster response had grown into a movement of empowerment—proof that when people are trusted, equipped, and believed in, hope multiplies. As one member shared, “The light at the end of the tunnel is now much closer than before.”

In 2024, devastating floods swept across the Tana Delta region in Kenya, leaving hundreds of families with no homes, farms or livelihoods. But hope arrived through the CWS Mwanga Project. During the recovery process, the Kipini Disability Fellowship—a self-organized network of people with disabilities and caregivers— stood out. Formed to offer mutual support and a path forward, the group was nominated for the poultry program just as the last slots were being filled.
